Cathy was born and raised in Lansdowne with siblings Margaret (Gerry) O’Hearn, Sallee (Rick Bycroft), Peter (Carol), Hugh, Cheri (Larry) White, Vicki (Norm Dunn), Ed (Patti), Jim (Gail), Terry, Michael (Mary Jo), and loving mother Bertha. Being resourceful in a big family was a way of life. Cathy worked as a talented self-made seamstress, and then spent almost 20 years at The Bay. Cathy was most proud of her daughters, Pam (Richard Armstrong) and Jan (Anthony Fisher). She also loved to celebrate her grandchildren; Kate, Reg, and Jack Armstrong, Elly and Ross Ayling. Her calendar was perpetually filled with entertaining friends, legion dances, and world travel. Fred Pentney and Cathy have enjoyed the last 3 years between his lakeside home and her condo. Cathy remained kind, clear-headed and stunning to the end. Cathy has donated her body to science with hope that something can be learned from the cancers that ravaged her otherwise healthful body. She encourages everyone to have a colonoscopy starting at age 50.
All are welcome to the Celebration of the Eucharist in memory of Cathy, at 11am on Friday, Oct 7th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church (490 Days Rd.) A luncheon and celebration of Cathy’s life will follow in the Church hall. At Cathy’s request, we encourage attendees to wear bright colours and think of a favourite memory to share in writing or with the larger group.
